my Senior Pup Friends for a workout program just for you that’s gentle and effective!


The goal is to complete 3 full rounds by the end of the week with rest days in between. It’s best to alternate days and not to skip the rest days so their muscles have time to recover as their muscles are more prone to stiffening up easier and we don’t want that.

Just a reminder with any age dog, but especially seniors to workout on a grippy surface as they are more prone to slipping. Any age dog is welcome to do this workout as it’s always good to freshen up on the basics!

Senior Dog Program: Month 1


Week 1

  • Spin/Turn, 1-2 each direction
  • One Step Back Ups to Target, 2-5 reps
  • Stands, 2 30 second holds
  • Paws Up, 30 second hold

Equipment: platform and a mat or towel or sensory mats

Remember to take a progress photo on your first day!

Week 2

  • Wrap Around Cone, 2-4 each direction
  • Side Step Across Mat, 2-6 reps
  • Standing Tummy Tickles, 1 minute hold
  • Paws Up Half Moons, 1 minute hold

Equipment: cone, platform and a mat, towel or sensory mats

Week 3

  • Toss and Run, 1 -2 minutes
  • Back Off of Target, 2-5 reps
  • Elevated Sit Stay, 30 seconds
  • Paws Up Neck Reaches Up, 5-10 reps
  • Paws Up Neck Reaches Down, 5-10 reps

Equipment: platform and a mat, towel or sensory mats, favorite toy or larger treats

Week 4

  • Figure 8 Wrap Around Cones, 1 minute
  • Side Stepping, 2-8 reps
  • Standing Saws, 1 minute
  • Paws Up 360s, 1 minute

  • Ribbon Hurdle, 4-8 reps
  • Back Up Over Hurdle, 2-6 reps
  • Back Feet Squats, 2-4 reps
  • Plank, 30 seconds
